Help Seven-Year-Old Oliver Slater and His Family in Their Time of Need

Seven-year-old Oliver Slater and his family urgently need your support. Any donation, big or small, will make a real difference in their lives during this difficult time.

Oliver, who turned seven on New Year’s Day, was diagnosed with bone cancer in February. His family now faces immense financial strain as they navigate the challenges of his treatment. We are aiming to raise £15,000 to help cover the additional costs they will incur and to ease their financial worries.

A bright and active child, Oliver loves school, martial arts, swimming, golf, and football—especially Manchester United. Since being hospitalized, he has deeply missed his sister, Lily, and his beloved dog, Daisy. When he isn’t outdoors exploring the forest, he enjoys building Lego.

Oliver’s journey began in October when he started experiencing severe leg pain. Initially misdiagnosed with shin splints, he was eventually referred to the hospital in November, where he was diagnosed with a bone infection. Despite doctors’ best efforts, the infection remained uncontrolled, and he spent most of the next few months in Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

After further testing in January, specialists confirmed the devastating diagnosis: bone cancer. Oliver has since begun chemotherapy and is facing inevitable surgery, which may include a thigh bone and hip replacement.

His parents, Laura and Shaun, have remained by his side day and night, unable to work while caring for him in a hospital far from their home in Ross-on-Wye. The financial burden has been overwhelming, and they need support to continue being there for Oliver without the added stress of financial insecurity.

Your donation will help ensure that Oliver’s family can focus entirely on his recovery. It will also allow them to make necessary adaptations to their home, as Oliver now relies on a wheelchair and cannot bear weight on his leg. Additionally, once his treatment is over, we hope to give Oliver and his family the chance to take a much-needed holiday together.

Thank you for taking the time to read Oliver’s story. Any support you can give means the world to this family.
